The Sour Sop - A miraculous natural cancer cell killer 10,000 times stronger than Chemo (Zeljko Novakovic ).

There is websites that are getting paid to discredit the benefits of this fruit, keep in mind that In the past 50 years, the cancer industry has emerged as a multi-billion dollar giant. So please read and share this post save a life. The big pharma industry will do anything to keep you away from this type of information. Even paid false reports.

"10000 times stronger killer of CANCER than Chemo".. do share it.. can save many lives, fill up hopes and build confidence in the patients…

The Sour Sop or the fruit from the graviola tree is a miraculous natural cancer cell killer 10,000 times stronger than Chemo.

Why are we not aware of this? Its because some big corporation want to make back their money spent on years of research by trying to make a synthetic version of it for sale.

So, since you know it now you can help a friend in need by letting him know or just drink some sour sop juice yourself as prevention from time to time. The taste is not bad after all. It’s completely natural and definitely has no side effects. If you have the space, plant one in your garden.
The other parts of the tree are also useful.

The next time you have a fruit juice, ask for a sour sop.

How many people died in vain while this billion-dollar drug maker concealed the secret of the miraculous Graviola tree?

This tree is low and is called graviola ! in Brazi l, guanabana in Spanish and has the uninspiring name “soursop” in English. The fruit is very large and the subacid sweet white pulp is eaten out of hand or, more commonly, used to make fruit drinks, sherbets and such.

The principal interest in this plant is because of its strong anti-cancer effects. Although it is effective for a number of medical conditions, it is its anti tumor effect that is of most interest. This plant is a proven cancer remedy for cancers of all types.

Besides being a cancer remedy, graviola is a broad spectrum antimicrobial agent for both bacterial and fungal infections, is effective against internal parasites and worms, lowers high blood pressure and is used for depression, stress and nervous disorders.

If there ever was a single example that makes it dramatically clear why the existence of Health Sciences Institute is so vital to Americans like you, it’s the incredible story behind the Graviola tree..

The truth is stunningly simple: Deep within the Amazon Rainforest grows a tree that could literally revolutionize what you, your doctor, and the rest of the world thinks about cancer treatment and chances of survival. The future has never looked more promising.

Research shows that with extracts from this miraculous tree it now may be possible to:
* Attack cancer safely and effectively with an all-natural therapy that does not cause extreme nausea, weight loss and hair loss
* Protect your immune system and avoid deadly infections
* Feel stronger and healthier throughout the course of the treatment
* Boost your energy and improve your outlook on life

The source of this information is just as stunning: It comes from one of America ‘s largest drug manufacturers, the fruit of over 20 laboratory tests conducted since the 1970’s! What those tests revealed was nothing short of mind numbing… Extracts from the tree were shown to:

* Effectively target and kill malignant cells in 12 types of cancer, including colon, breast, prostate, lung and pancreatic cancer..
* The tree compounds proved to be up to 10,000 times stronger in slowing the growth of cancer cells than Adriamycin, a commonly used chemotherapeutic drug!
* What’s more, unlike chemotherapy, the compound extracted from the Graviola tree selectivelyhunts
down and kills only cancer cells.. It does not harm healthy cells!

The amazing anti-cancer properties of the Graviola tree have been extensively researched–so why haven’t you heard anything about it? If Graviola extract is

One of America ‘s biggest billion-dollar drug makers began a search for a cancer cure and their research centered on Graviola, a legendary healing tree from the Amazon Rainforest.

Various parts of the Graviola tree–including the bark, leaves, roots, fruit and fruit-seeds–have been used for centuries by medicine men and native Indi! ans in S outh America to treat heart disease, asthma, liver problems and arthritis. Going on very little documented scientific evidence, the company poured money and resources into testing the tree’s anti-cancerous properties–and were shocked by the results. Graviola proved itself to be a cancer-killing dynamo.
But that’s where the Graviola story nearly ended.

The company had one huge problem with the Graviola tree–it’s completely natural, and so, under federal law, not patentable. There’s no way to make serious profits from it.

It turns out the drug company invested nearly seven years trying to synthesize two of the Graviola tree’s most powerful anti-cancer ingredients. If they could isolate and produce man-made clones of what makes the Graviola so potent, they’d be able to patent it and make their money back. Alas, they hit a brick wall. The original simply could not be replicated. There was no way the company could protect its profits–or even make back the millions it poured into research.

As the dream of huge profits evaporated, their testing on Graviola came to a screeching halt. Even worse, the company shelved the entire project and chose not to publish the findings of its research!

Luckily, however, there was one scientist from the Graviola research team whose conscience wouldn’t let him see such atrocity committed. Risking his career, he contacted a company that’s dedicated to harvesting medical plants from the Amazon Rainforest and blew the whistle.

Miracle unleashed
When researchers at the Health Sciences Institute were alerted to the news of Graviola,! they be gan tracking the research done on the cancer-killing tree. Evidence of the astounding effectiveness of Graviola–and its shocking cover-up–came in fast and furious….

….The National Cancer Institute performed the first scientific research in 1976. The results showed that Graviola’s “leaves and stems were found effective in attacking and destroying malignant cells.” Inexplicably, the results were published in an internal report and never released to the public…

….Since 1976, Graviola has proven to be an immensely potent cancer killer in 20 independent laboratory tests, yet no double-blind clinical trials–the typical benchmark mainstream doctors and journals use to judge a treatment’s value–were ever initiated….

….A study published in the Journal of Natural Products, following a recent study conducted at Catholic University of South Korea stated that one chemical in Graviola was found to selectively kill colon cancer cells at “10,000 times the potency of (the commonly used chemotherapy drug) Adriamycin…”

….The most significant part of the Catholic University of South Korea report is that Graviola was shown to selectively target the cancer cells, leaving healthy cells untouched. Unlike chemotherapy, which indiscriminately targets all actively reproducing cells (such as stomach and hair cells), causing the often devastating side effects of nausea and hair loss in cancer patients.

…A study at Purdue University recently found that leaves from the Graviola tree killed cancer cells among six human cell lines and were especially effective against prostate, pancreatic and lung cancers Seven years of silence broken–it’s finally here!

INSOMNIA (SLEEPLESSNESS)

Insomnia, or sleeplessness, is a sleep disorder in which there is an inability to fall asleep or to stay asleep as long as desired. While the term is sometimes used to describe a disorder demonstrated by polysomnographic evidence of disturbed sleep, insomnia is often practically defined as a positive response to either of two questions: "Do you experience difficulty sleeping?" or "Do you have difficulty falling or staying asleep?"
Insomnia is most often thought of as both a medical sign and a symptom that can accompany several sleep, medical, and psychiatric disorders characterized by a persistent difficulty falling asleep and/or staying asleep or sleep of poor quality. Insomnia is typically followed by functional impairment while awake. Insomnia can occur at any age, but it is particularly common in the elderly. Insomnia can be short term (up to three weeks) or long term (above 3–4 weeks), which can lead to memory problems, depression, irritability and an increased risk of heart disease and automobile related accidents.
Those who are having trouble sleeping sometimes turn to sleeping pills, which can help when used occasionally but may lead to substance dependence or addiction if used regularly for an extended period.
Insomnia can be grouped into primary and secondary, or comorbid, insomnia. Primary insomnia is a sleep disorder not attributable to a medical, psychiatric, or environmental cause. It is described as a complaint of prolonged sleep onset latency, disturbance of sleep maintenance, or the experience of non-refreshing sleep. A complete diagnosis will differentiate between free-standing primary insomnia, insomnia as secondary to another condition, and primary insomnia co-morbid with one or more conditions.

**HEALTH WATCH!** That ponmo might be deadly

Experts say traders now lace popular cowhide with embalming fluid

BY TESSY IGOMU  Are you in the habit of stocking your pot or piling your plate with fat, fleshy cowhide known in local parlance as ponmo? Then, you might be in for a shocker.    Recently, health officials in Sapele, Delta State, apprehended some ponmo sellers for injecting chemicals used in the embalmment of corpses into the hide to make it look attractive to buyers.
According to the report, the traders who confessed to the dastardly act disclosed that after injecting the substance, they would then soak the cowhide in water, so that it can become bloated and fleshy.
Though the particular type of embalming fluid used was not disclosed, experts have disclosed that ingesting any substance used for embalming corpses has grave consequences.
In the past, ponmo was the ‘meat’ of the poor. Not anymore. Of late, due to the rising cost of beef in the market, most Nigerians have embraced ponmo as an alternative, even as it has become a delight in most homes. With Nigerians displaying their ingenuity and versatility in converting the cowhide into delicacies, appetite for it has continued to increase daily.
Ponmo is derived from cowhide after it has been tenderized in hot water and the hair removed with razor blade. It can also be processed by burning the hide with fire fuelled mostly by disused tyres and plastic.
Everywhere you go in the country, ponmo has become a staple food for consumption. Aside, from housewives that have embraced the delicacy, it has also become a very lucrative business for people who have found a way to rake in extra cash by preparing it for commercial consumption. They do this by cooking and having it well garnished with pepper and onion, and hawking it on streets, markets and bus stops as ponmo alata.
In the eastern part of the country, the love for ponmo that still has little beef attached to it is really relished and it doesn’t come cheap either. The belief in some quarters that cowhide has no nutritional value, has not in any way decreased the growing demand or affected its skyrocketing price.
However, the danger in eating anything that has been laced with embalming fluid, according to Abolanle Kayode, a biochemist at the department of Chemical Sciences, Bells University of Technology, Otta, is very grave.
He disclosed that though there are many types of embalming fluid, formalin, which is the most common one, poses health hazard when it comes in contact with food. He disclosed that consumption of food contaminated with formalin can cause abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, unconsciousness, or even death.
Highlighting the composition of the chemical, he said, “Formalin is a commercial source of formaldehyde. Formaldehyde (HCHO) was discovered in 1856 by the British chemist, August Wilheld Von Hofmann. It is a noxious, flammable gas, extremely soluble in water. It is colourless at ordinary temperature and has an irritating pungent odour. It is commercially available as formalin containing 37 per cent by weight or 40 per cent by volume of formaldehyde gas in water. Formalin contains an average 7 per cent of methyl alcohol, 37 per cent formaldehyde and the remaining is water. It rapidly metabolizes to formic acid.
Formaldehyde’s effect on pregnancy and the reproductive system, he noted, has been studied in both humans and in laboratory animals. He disclosed that the chemical has been shown to decrease fertility and increase the risk of spontaneous abortions in humans. “In laboratory animals, formaldehyde can harm the developing fetus and damage sperm”, he warned.
Embalming of corpses, the biochemist explained, involves disinfection and preservation of dead bodies using chemical substances which include formalin, among others, adding that the embalming fluid consists of a group of chemicals that include preservatives, germicides, buffers, wetting agents, anticoagulants, dyes and perfuming agents, among others in various proportions to produce the embalming fluid.
He disclosed that Formaldehyde is the commonest preservative used for embalming, noting that anatomists, technicians in histology and embalming laboratories, as well as medical students during their dissection courses, are all exposed to formaldehyde, which in many situations, crosses the threshold for irritation of eyes and upper respiratory tract.”
The biochemist warned that formaldehyde can cause allergic reactions of the skin and the lungs (asthma). Formaldehyde, he also warned, is also a known cause of cancer in humans.
“The eyes, nose, and throat are irritated by formaldehyde vapors. This exposure can cause red-teary burning eyes, sneezing, coughing and sore throat.  Liquid formaldehyde solutions contacting the eyes can damage the cornea, possibly causing blindness.
“At higher concentration, it can severely irritate the lungs, causing chest pain and shortness of breath. Repeated exposure to formaldehyde can cause allergic asthma. Formaldehyde solutions can destroy the skin’s natural protective oils, causing dryness, flaking, cracking, and dermatitis (skin rash). Skin contact can also cause an allergic reaction like redness, itching, hives and blisters. As many as one in 20 workers who are regularly exposed to formaldehyde develop an allergic skin reaction. Formaldehyde exposure can cause cancer of the nose and sinuses in humans, as well as some types of leukaemia and lymphoma.”
According to pharmacist, Mr. Damian Izuka, if actually such act was carried out, it is quite condemnable, adding that many Nigerians hardly care and would do anything to achieve instant wealth, even if such act ends up reducing the population.
He noted that nature is so good that right from time, humans are able to know what is palatable and have naturally avoided the toxic ones.
“My wife doesn’t eat mushroom”, he disclosed. Explaining her reason for avoiding what he described as one of the delicacies relished by most people, he said: “Her fear stems from the danger of eating the wrong or poisonous one. When you see a human being taking something that is not edible and giving others, you just can’t quantify the magnitude of confusion that can create. If you make tea and decide to add salt or make soup and add sugar, you don’t need to be told what it would taste like.”
The pharmacist however, stressed that if for any reason people indulge in the act of lacing any food with chemical to make it look appealing, despite the dangers, “that person must be made to face the consequences.”
For Funke Odusanya, a housewife, embalming fluid or not, cow hide would always grace her cooking pot. “Such things can’t kill a poor person. That is what I have been using as a supplement to meat and fish for my family because it is cheaper. For me, it would always be ponmo,” she declared.
Ini Umoh, a restaurant operator in Ajao Estate, said she is not aware of such practice, as she has a credible person that supplies her ponmo. She noted that most customers can’t eat without adding the delicacy to their regular meal.
“Even if you tell them that it is dangerous to eat ponmo, they would just laugh at you. Most people can’t afford meat. Moreover, without ponmo in my afang and other vegetable soups, it is bad market,” she laughed.

Obstructive sleep apnea

Sleep apnea (or sleep apnoea in British English; /æpˈnə/) is a type of sleep disorder characterized by pauses in breathing or instances of shallow or infrequent breathing during sleep. Each pause in breathing, called an apnea, can last from at least ten seconds to several minutes, and may occur 5 to 30 times or more an hour.[1] Similarly, each abnormally shallow breathing event is called a hypopnea. Sleep apnea is often diagnosed with an overnight sleep test called a polysomnogram, or "sleep study".
There are three forms of sleep apnea: central (CSA), obstructive (OSA), and complex or mixed sleep apnea (i.e., a combination of central and obstructive) constituting 0.4%, 84% and 15% of cases respectively.[2] In CSA, breathing is interrupted by a lack of respiratory effort; in OSA, breathing is interrupted by a physical block to airflow despite respiratory effort, and snoring is common.
Regardless of type, an individual with sleep apnea is rarely aware of having difficulty breathing, even upon awakening.[3] Sleep apnea is recognized as a problem by others witnessing the individual during episodes or is suspected because of its effects on the body (sequelae). Symptoms may be present for years (or even decades) without identification, during which time the sufferer may become conditioned to the daytime sleepiness and fatigue associated with significant levels of sleep disturbance.
Sleep apnea affects not only adults but some children as well.[4] As stated by El-Ad, "patients complain about excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) and impaired alertness".[4] In other words, common effects of sleep apnea include daytime fatigue, a slower reaction time, and vision problems.[4] Moreover, patients are examined using “standard test batteries” in order to further identify parts of the brain that are affected by sleep apnea.[4] Tests have shown that certain parts of the brain cause different effects. The “executive functioning” part of the brain affects the way the patient plans and initiates tasks.[4] Second, the part of the brain that deals with attention causes difficulty in paying attention, working effectively and processing information when in a waking state.[4] Thirdly, the part of the brain that uses memory and learning is also affected.[4] Due to the disruption in daytime cognitive state, behavioral effects are also present. This includes moodiness, belligerence, as well as a decrease in attentiveness and drive.[5] Another symptom of sleep apnea is waking up in sleep paralysis. In severe cases, the fear of sleep due to sleep paralysis can lead to insomnia. These effects become very hard to deal with, thus the development of depression may transpire.[6] There is also increasing evidence that sleep apnea may also lead to liver function impairment, particularly fatty liver diseases (see steatosis).[5][7][8][9] Finally, because there are many factors that could lead to some of the effects previously listed, some patients are not aware that they suffer from sleep apnea and are either misdiagnosed, or just ignore the symptoms altogether

Harmattan: A Dreadful Season With Many Troubles

There is no season of the year that does not come without affecting people’s live, but the negative effects of harmattan season seem to outweigh its benefits on human lives, especially those that live in the northern part of Africa.
Although it is a period that people usually feel a huge relieve from the scotching heat of the sun that accompanies the previous season, but dryness of the weather and the wind that comes with dust often override its coolness. And the resultant effect of this dryness is what makes fire outbreaks spread easily, which is why more fire incidents are often recorded during the season.
Harmattan is usually characterized by strong wind, which blows southwest from the Sahara desert into the Gulf of Guinea between October and March. The dry weather condition has various health implications to human and animals, especially affecting the skin, eyes and respiratory system.
Despite all these negative effects, studies have shown that the harmattan season is not without its health benefits to people. The low temperature associated with it is unfavourable for mosquitoes to breed, thus reducing the incidence of malaria fever.
Among the health hazards it usually poses on people is asthma and other respiratory tract infections.
According to Dr Chibuzo Nath, people with asthmatic health condition or other upper respiratory diseases are the ones that are mostly affected during this season. “Harmattan affects people with certain health conditions; it even affects people whose health is normal. But asthmatic patients are among those that are seriously affected by this season.
“One of the trigger agents in asthma is dust. So during the season, we all know that the wind is dry and it brings a lot of dust, which means that people who are suffering from asthma have recurrent and more frequent attacks during this particular period.”
In addition, he said that everyone that is exposed to the harmattan wind is at the risk of contacting an eye condition called conjunctivitis, also known as Apollo. “The wind is dry and it picks up a lot of particles from the environment, which will not only affect people with asthma, but also normal people and their eyes. And if you are not the kind of person that baths two or three times in a day to wash those particles off your eyes, you stand the danger of having conjunctivitis and other related infections,” he stated.
As is always the norm, November comes with weather change in different parts of the country, including Sahara areas like Katsina State which is currently experiencing the resurge of the dry wind. Presently, the state is experiencing dusty weather which is cold in the morning and partly hot in mid afternoon.
This change in weather, as should be expected, comes with some challenges, especially health implications. To this end, both the state government and the citizens are taking what could mildly be described as measures to forestall any unforeseen incident.
Although this weather change is unstable with cold and hot alternating conditions, sometimes, drastic measures are being taken by the people. Our correspondent observed that sellers of jackets and second-hand clothes like sweaters are making brisk business as people rush to purchase clothing that will keep them warm.
Musa Isa sells second-hand cloths at the Katsina Central Market. He said that he had record increased sales of recent as there had been upsurge of customers coming to buy cardigans and stockings.
“You know this slight change in weather has forced people to rush for warm clothing. People trooped in all the time to buy cardigans for themselves and sometimes for their children, since we have different sizes here. Normally, in seasons like this, we make some nice sales,” a visibly elated Isa enthused.
Interestingly, a nurse with the State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Mariya Shamsudeen, said that health personnel have been directed to educate nursing mothers who visit health centres across the state on the need to take aggressive measures to wade off possible diseases.
“As a principle, we educate all those who visit health centres, especially nursing mothers, to ensure they cloth their babies with warm cloths and avoid exposing them to this harsh weather,” she noted, adding that “in fairness to them, we have been seeing remarkable improvements.”
Speaking on the preparation for the harmattan season, the Katsina State Commissioner for Health, Mannir Ibrahim Talba, said, “Harmattan season is often associated with outbreak of diseases, fire disasters and others. We are conscious of this fact, and the ministry of health, in partnership with ministry of information and ministry of environment, is carrying out massive sensitisation campaigns.
“We are engaging in mass awareness creation for people to take precautionary measures to safeguard their lives, property and those of others. We have directed local government areas to key into the campaigns in partnership with traditional rulers,” he added.
In Yobe State, many people have expressed concern and preparation for the harmattan session in order to protect their lives and property.
While speaking to our correspondent in Damaturu, a businessman, Musa Tela, said that during the harmattan session, “we used to wearing protective cloths, such as sweaters, socks and covered shoes for the harmattan session and to protect our health status.”
Some Okada rides in the state have expressed their displeasure over the arrival of the harmattan season. They said the cold weather often stops people from doing their business early in the morning thereby making them to suspend their activities.
In Bauchi State, a senior medical doctor at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) Bauchi, Dr Abdulrahman Tahir, said harmattan is associated with dry wind and can cause people’s skin to get dry and crack. He enumerated other problems caused to include; catarrh, coughing, sneezing, nasal congestion, asthma and pneumonia, especially among the children, as a result of exposure to cold.
Dr Tahir noted that people can cope with the harmattan by wearing or using protective cloths such as sweaters, caps, socks, covered shoes and blankets that can prevent them from being exposed to cold. The physician also advised that people should use cream continuously throughout the season as a way of keeping their skin healthy and moist to avoid cracks.
He said asthmatic patients should use things to cover their mouths and noses from dust, while parents should take good care of their siblings during the season by preventing them from roaming about naked, half-naked or playing indiscriminately with water to avoid the risk of getting pneumonia.
“Diseases like pneumonia and other respiratory related ailments can be complicated during the cold season. So, people should take precautionary measures against harmattan,” he advised.
On the use of fire and embers to manage the cold season, the medical expert responded that although the practice has been a tradition for centuries, it is risky for one to make fire inside the house or a room, but can do that outside to avoid inferno.
He also recommended the use of warm water for bath, using electrical appliances such as heater, electric kettles, stoves etc but however cautioned people to be extra-careful as such devices can cause fire disaster.
This is even as he disclosed that the ATBUTH receives more fire victims during harmattan seasons than any other period.
Sokoto State, like most other northern states, is also an area where the harmattan season is hitting badly. Ordinarily, one would wonder why such a harsh and dry season is consistently hot. However, in his submission, the state commissioner for environment, Dr Jabi Kilgori, has expressed optimism that the state is adequately prepared for any eventuality in terms of fire outbreak and other ailments that might accompany the harmattan period.
While decrying the attitude of most people towards sanitising their immediate environment, the commissioner added that people’s lukewarm attitude towards monthly sanitation informed the formation of mobile courts to help arrest, try and sentence defaulters instantly.
Dr Kilgori further disclosed that the state government has good environmental policies that have aided in the reduction or near absence of weather-related ailment.
He however hinted that parents as well as individuals that are allergic to cold weather should use good protective wears. Just as he maintained that the state fire service is always on the alert to tackle any case of fire outbreak. And achieving this, according to him, led to the opening and equipping of the state fire-fighters in all the 23 local government areas of the state.
Jigawa State is not left out of the weather torment as 42 years old Maryam Bello of Taura local government area of the state narrated. An asthmatic patient, Bello has been battling with the sickness for over four years.
According to her, the harmattan season is the most difficult time for her. “So, based on my experience on this disease, during every harmattan period, I am forced to give maximum compliance to all doctor’s recommendations, increasing may visits to hospital, and ensuring making available drugs and inhalers close to me at all times to save my life from any avoidable death,” she said.
Bello Ismail is a 50-year-old civil servant with Jigawa State government, and he is also asthmatic; a condition he has been for the last 6 years. He revealed that in preparation for the dry season, he has already set aside some amount of money to buy drugs and other recommended materials.
According to a health practitioner in Kebbi State, Dr A. I. Ukatu, who is the proprietor and Chief Medical Director of Mayo Clinic in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital, cases of patients with respiratory related diseases such as asthma are usually on the increase during the harmattan period. Dr Ukatu attributed the rise of the ailments associated with respiratory to what he referred to as “irritants”, because of plenty of dust particles in the air.
He added that the problems are worsened during harmattan due to triggering factors such as dust. “So, the only thing you have to do is to avoid those factors that can trigger off attacks, like somebody who is asthmatic should try as much as possible to avoid dusty condition, and if you want to do some cleaning, like sweeping, you pour some water before you start, covering of the nose and mouth with a clean cloth can also help to some extent, and if you have to work in a dusty environment make sure your nose and mouth are covered,” he advised.
A 49-year-old asthma patient, Usman Sirajo, who inherited asthma disease from his late father and has been battling with the ailment since he was a young boy said, “My worst season is the harmattan, because of the dusty wind and because of the fear of sudden attack. I have to remain indoors all day and all night. Imagine my situation, just like incarceration. Now that harmattan is fast approaching, I made sure my inhaler is always with me and my drugs too.”
Apart from other health hazards, other environmental problems associated with Harmattan is fire outbreak.
According to the director, Fire Service, Kebbi State, Bello Ahmed Zagga, fire outbreak cases are on the increase during harmattan in the state. He said on the average, his office receives not less than six to seven cases of daily fire outbreak during harmattan season in the state capital alone, while after harmattan only one or two cases are reported.
The general manager, Kebbi Urban Development Authority (KUDA), Aliyu Galadima, said “I am calling on members of the public to always keep their environment neat, because when you generate waste, there is every tendency for somebody to put fire on it, and this could be dangerous during harmattan,” he said.
The Kaduna State government through its emergency and management agency, SEMA, said it has since embarked on sensitization campaign on some of the dangers prone to the weather change and ways of averting them.
According to the public relation officer, Abubakar Zakari Adamu, “We are aware of some of the occurrences associated with the weather change, and as an agency, we have commenced a sensitization programme through jingles advertisement on radio and television.
“We are also going to carry out such sensitization in about 87 markets in the 23 local government areas of the state. We will also do same in all the garages. We are calling on those that smoke to avoid indiscriminate dumping of cigarettes after smoking.
“We are also carrying the sensitization to all those who have one thing or the other to do with fire, particularly welders. Our appeal to people is to beware of any electrical appliances and switch them off when not in use as any small fire could lead to major spark which is capable of causing havoc,” he advised.
It could be recalled that very recently, a fire outbreak in Kaduna claimed the lives of three siblings when fire spark engulfed their flat at M8 Chikun Street, Trikania new extension, Kaduna South local government area of Kaduna State.
The compound housed four blocks of two-bedroom flats with two blocks of the flats completely razed down, while the other two flats were not touched due to the concerted efforts of the fire-fighters and well-wishers who helped to put out the fire. But in spite of their efforts, three of the children got burnt completely from the flat that the fire started, while virtually all the property in the two flats were completely burnt.
The deceased children are Israel Kure (13 months), Nana Kure (6) and Fredrick Kure (8), while the other occupants of the second flat survived the fire outbreak but lost all their property.
When LEADERSHIP SUNDAY visited the scene of the inferno, it was further gathered that their mother, Mrs Jamima Kure, also sustained serious burns and was rushed to the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Shika, where she is presently receiving treatment.
An occupant of one of the flats, Mrs Mary Ogbemudia, who spoke to our correspondent, alleged that the fire outbreak was due to high power voltage which occurred when the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) restored the light at about 9 to 10pm.
Another neighbour, Mr Joseph Dangana Abet, also concurred that it was high power voltage that caused the fire outbreak. According to him, the father of the deceased, Mr Simon Danmagaji Kure, is a staff of the PHCN in Lafia, Nasarawa State, and was not in Kaduna when the incident occurred but had since arrived Kaduna at the news of the incident.
Another fire outbreak happened at the popular Kasuwa Bechi market where two shops were completely razed down with goods worth thousands destroyed. In this same harmattan period, a family of four were also burnt to death last year in Kaduna. This is few among several other fire outbreaks associated to this hazy period, because of the dry nature of the weather which aggravates little spark of fire.
For the asthmatic patients, dry wind which is characterised with the dry season that carries dust is not the best period for them, according to Mrs Agatha Achimugu. “For those of us, who are asthmatic, anything dust or smoke is not our friend. It chokes and affects us. That is why you see us carrying our inhaler in cases of any such eventuality,” she said.
But for Mr John Fwah, the harmattan period is the best of season. “You sleep well with or without electricity power, unlike during the heat period when you rarely sleep once there is no light,” he said.
It’s a matter of different strokes for different folks you will say. In all, the harmattan is a season that caution and care need to be taken to avoid both medical and material disasters.

DRINK GENEROUS QUANTITY OF WATER, GIVE YOUR HEALTH A BOOST.

Water as we should know is loaded with minerals which are beneficial to health. Ensuring sufficient intake of water at all given opportunities is highly recommended as doing so will lead to a boost in your health and fitness.
It sounds so simple. H20 - two parts hydrogen and one part oxygen. This substance also known as water, is one of the most essential elements to health and is so important that your body actually has a specific drought management system in place to prevent dehydration and ensure your survival. Water might be everywhere, but one must never take it for granted. Water makes up more than two thirds of human body weight, and without water, we would die in a few days. The human brain is made up of 95% water, blood is 82% and lungs 90%. A mere 2% drop in our body's water supply can trigger signs of dehydration: fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on smaller print, such as a computer screen. (Are you having trouble reading this? Drink up!) Mild dehydration is also one of the most common causes of daytime fatigue. An estimated seventy-five percent of Americans have mild, chronic dehydration. Pretty scary statistic for a developed country where water is readily available through the tap or bottle water.
Dad and sonWater is important to the mechanics of the human body. The body cannot work without it, just as a car cannot run without gas and oil. In fact, all the cell and organ functions that make up our entire anatomy and physiology depend on water for their functioning.
Water serves as a lubricant
Water serves as a lubricant in digestion and almost all other body processes. The water in our saliva helps facilitate chewing and swallowing, ensuring that food will slide easily down the esophagus. Water also lubricates our joints and cartilages and allows them to (pardon the pun) move more fluidly. When dehydrated, the body rations water away from the joints. Less lubrication equals greater friction and that can cause joint, knee and back pain potentially leading to injuries and arthritis. Even our eyeballs need plenty of lubrication to work well and remain healthy.

Water regulates body temperature
Our bodies can control over-heating through perspiration from sweat glands in the skin and from evaporation which produces a cooling effect. Blood is also routed into areas close to the surface of the skin where it can be cooled and then carried back to the interior of the body. Conversing in a cold environment, the skin maintains proper body temperature by shunting the blood away from the exterior surface thereby conserving heat within the body. The movement of water within our cellular systems also transports vital blood plasma which is 92% made of water. Blood plasma play a critical role in buffering the body’s pH, circulating antibodies from the immune system, and regulating osmotic balance which all helps to maintain proper body temperature.

Supplements can be harmful to your health. Caution is the Key word,

Supplements
We all take supplements for all sorts of reasons. People take supplements to replenish the vitamins and minerals the body needs to function optimally. Also, as we age, our bodies produce fewer enzymes, including all the important ones needed to properly digest and assimilate foods. We therefore need appropriate supplements to shore up the dwindling enzymes and boost a lagging libido or sperm health. Again, people take supplements to beat stress and thus strengthen the immune system.
Experts say supplements can help to restore the body to a place of balance. And they are just okay, especially under the supervision of a competent physician.
A consultant nutritionist, Dr. Mayowa Ismail, notes that while nothing will take the place of eating a good and healthy diet, taking quality, whole food-based natural supplements can go a long way towards helping you maintain a better level of health. He also warns that if you have what he describes as “bad habits” such as skipping meals and not eating healthy foods, you need them even more.
He laments that Nigerians “cook the nutrients out of food,” resulting in a massive loss of nutritional values.
“This means far fewer vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and enzymes to go around. What’s more, eating these depleted foods over time creates its own set of health problems. And that’s why taking supplements will help the body recoup whatever nutrients we may have missed in our foods.”
Before you take supplements
But then, are there dangers to taking supplements? Experts urge caution when splurging on supplements. They have their reasons. The Medical Director of Hope Clinics, Dr. David Akinlade notes that most supplements do have side effects.
He gives the example of fish oil which cardiologists say promotes heart health and reduces cancer risk. “Omega-3 fish oil may help to lower blood pressure, reduce triglycerides (a type of fat found in the blood), slow the development of plaque in the arteries, reduce the chance of abnormal heart rhythm, reduce the likelihood of heart attack and stroke, and lessen the chance of sudden cardiac death in people with heart disease.”
However, experts say you can overdose on omega-3 fish oil supplements if you are not guided by a physician! Akinlade says, “The oil can cause stomach upset, nausea, gastric issues such as heartburn, and belching that’s combined, unpleasantly, with a fishy aftertaste.”
Another supplement is the ginkgo biloba. Researchers say the plant has a number of therapeutic properties and contains high levels of flavonoids and terpenoids — antioxidants that provide protection against oxidative cell damage from harmful free radicals.
In recent years, ginkgo supplements have become increasingly popular and experts say they are currently among the top-selling herbal medications.
A professor of chiropractic and Chairman, Natural Health Practitioners in Nigeria, Bishop Magnus Atilade, says ginkgo biloba extract is collected from the dried green leaves of the plant and is available as liquid extracts, capsules, and tablets. He adds that the dried leaves of the plant can also be used to make tea.
Again, the Institute for Natural Products Research says ginkgo biloba is also useful in increasing sexual energy, soothing bladder irritation, treating intestinal worms and gonorrhoea.
A study published in the journal, Pharmacopsychiatry, also claims that clinical efficacy of the ginkgo indicates that people with dementia can benefit from taking it, and that it can improve thinking and memory.
Another peer review journal, JAMA, similarly found that ginkgo biloba “is safe and appears capable of stabilising and, in a substantial number of cases, improving the cognitive performance and the social functioning of demented patients for six months to one year.”
Researchers believe that it improves cognitive function because it promotes good blood circulation in the brain and protects it from neuronal damage.
However, its negative influences include nausea, diarrhoea, dizziness, headaches, stomach ache, restlessness, and vomiting. It could also thin blood, making it dangerous for anyone on blood-thinning medications (or anyone getting surgery — even a dental procedure) to take.
Again, experts warn that ginkgo leaves contain long-chain alkylphenols, which are highly allergenic. “Therefore, people who are allergic to poison ivy and other plants with alkylphenols, are advised to completely avoid taking ginkgo,” they conclude.
In addition to its supplement form, we also have the ginseng tea and coffee, all of which are thought to boost memory, improve thinking, concentration, work efficiency, physical stamina, depression, chronic fatigue, boost the immune system, and for fighting particular infections in a lung disease called cystic fibrosis. Athletes are also said to love it because it makes for endurance.
Experts also say some people use ginseng to help them cope with stress and as a general tonic for improving well-being.
The dangers are there, nevertheless. For one, scientists say ginseng products are not always what they claim, and that the contents of products labeled as containing ginseng can vary greatly, and many contain little or no active ingredient.
Scientists say ginseng is possibly safe when taken by mouth for most adults and when used for less than three months. It is possibly unsafe when taken long-term, researchers say; adding it may have some hormone-like effects that could be harmful with prolonged use.
“Other possible side effects include insomnia, menstrual problems, breast pain, increased heart rate, high or low blood pressure, headache, loss of appetite, diarrhoea, itching, rash, dizziness, mood changes, and vaginal bleeding,” they warn.
Uncommon side effects that have been reported include severe rash called Stevens-Johnson syndrome, liver damage, and severe allergic reactions.
Pregnant women are advised to stay off it, as a chemical in it could cause birth defects; and breastfeeding mothers are also warned against taking it. Using the product for babies and older children has been linked to poisoning that can be fatal.
Again, experts say ginseng seems to increase the activity of the immune system and make auto-immune diseases worse; it could interfere with blood clotting, affect heart rhythm and blood pressure slightly on the first day it is used.
“In people with diabetes who are taking medications to lower blood sugar, adding ginseng might lower it too much; while those who have conditions that can be made worse by exposure to estrogen such as breast, uterine and ovarian cancers, endometriosis, or uterine fibroids are advised against it, as ginseng contains chemicals (ginsenosides) that can act like estrogen,” they say.
There is the need to know that supplements can hardly serve as replacement for orthodox medication.
So, consult your doctor before you take any supplement.

Enhancing Results of Weight Loss and Management - White beans Potentials

Extracts from white beans (Phaseolus vulgaris) may enhance the results of weight loss and management diets, according to a new study.
Twelve weeks of supplementing a weight loss diet led to an average weight loss of 2.91 kilogrammes, compared to only 0.92 kilogrammes of weight loss in the weight loss plus placebo group, report researchers from the UK and Germany in the journal Obesity.
In addition, during an addition 12 weeks of ‘weight management’ when participants were allowed to eat freely, 73.5 per cent of the participants successfully maintained their body weight.
The study used the PhaseLite (Phase 2 Carb Controller) ingredient developed by Pharmachem Laboratories, and manufactured by InQpharm. The new study is said to be the largest in terms of sample size and the longest single clinical study conducted on the white bean extract. The study was funded by InQpharm.
“These findings confirm that Phase 2 not only reduces the absorption of calories from carbohydrates, but also helps to reduce food cravings for sweet foods and chocolates,” said Mitch Skop, Senior Director of New Product Development, Pharmachem Laboratories. “This contributes greatly to the success of the weight loss regimen, as well as a happy and alert lifestyle.”
Barbara Grube, MD, lead researcher of the study, said that, in addition to the weight management benefits, the researchers also discovered other secondary efficacy parameters. “For instance, after 12 weeks, the active group lost significantly more body fat mass and waist circumference compared to the placebo group,” she said.
“From this data, we conclude that the reduction in body weight was due to the loss of fat mass, instead of muscles,” she added. “Improvement in body composition was also shown in the significant reduction in waist measurement in the active group compared to the placebo group.”
The study involved 123 subjects adhering to a mildly hypocaloric diet for 12 weeks and randomised to receive either the bean extract (three grammes per day) or placebo. After this initial 12 week period, 49 of the participants continued on to a single arm, open label weight management trial for an addition 12 weeks.
“Subjects in the weight management study were advised to maintain a nutritionally balanced diet, but there were no restrictions to food and energy intake,” they wrote. “Over 24 weeks, 73.5 per cent of subjects managed to maintain their weight. This is encouraging evidence that the weight management effects of [PhaseLite] can be replicated in a noncontrolled setting, mimicking daily life. In the weight management study, the dosage was standardised at two tablets, three times a day, so that data analysis can be done on a population who were on homogenous intervention.

Benefits of Fruits.

The health benefits of fruits guarantee you optimum health and a well-built body in the long run. Fruits benefit your body immensely as they are natural sources of vitamins and minerals, which are essential for the proper functioning of the body. Rich in dietary fiber, fruits also help to improve the functioning of the digestive tract. Fruits are an important part of a healthy diet for those who want to lose weight; they give ample energy and nearly every nutrient that your body needs to curb weight gain, without adding any unnecessary fats.
Moreover, fruits help you to stay away from health complications like heat stroke, high blood pressure, cancer, heart ailments, and diabetes. Fruits effectively fight skin disorders and promote healthy hair growth. It is always suggested to eat raw, fresh and ripe fruits because then you experience the real health benefits, rather than consuming them after processing or cooking.
How Do Fruits Help?
The human body is an intricate system and hundreds of complex reactions take place in it all the time. For smooth functioning of the body, you need an ample amount of nutrients that are supplied by fruits in a natural way. When you become ill or develop any health disorders, these can be avoided or treated with a healthy diet rich in fruits. With a busy lifestyle, our eating habits have become packed with preservatives and processed foods that are not only devoid of essential nutrients but can also cause some harm to the body. Fruits boost your immune system and keep you in perfect health.
Instant Energy Supplier: When you eat fruits, your supply of energy increases in no time; this is one of the prime benefits of fruits that we can utilize in our busy schedules. This is the reason why athletes often eat fruit during and after exercising and why diets for pregnant mothers almost always involve fruits of some kind.
Prevention is Better Than Treating - Nowadays, drug stores have many types of multivitamin tablets that can give supplemental nutrition during critical times. However, it is always advisable to eat the vitamins of fruits in their natural form so that all of the benefits are conferred to you. As is always said, the benefits of fruits can never be outmatched or replaced. Over a 10-20 year time frame, eating fruits regularly can completely change your life and makes a great deal of difference to the health and functioning of your body.
Keeps You Disease Free – The combination of powerful flavonoids, antioxidants, minerals, vitamins, phytochemicals and the countless micro- and macronutrients make fruits very advantageous for your health. The daily consumption of fresh fruits lowers the risk of strokes, high blood pressure, indigestion, cancer, heart disease, diabetes and other chronic diseases. Fruits keep your skin supple, hydrated and nourish it with essential vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, thereby retaining your radiant skin for a long period of time. In fact, if you are tired of using the commercial anti-pimple creams, just try including fruits like berries, apples, or bananas into your daily diet and see the acne disappear quite quickly.  Fruits even ensure healthy hair growth and keep your locks lustrous and soft. Some fruits like bananas contain vital chemicals such as potassium, which helps to prevent strokes, high blood pressure, and anxiety. Fruit consumption basically eliminates vitamin and mineral deficiencies and their associated symptoms. Fruits also have high quantities of water and fiber in them, which helps to keep your digestive tract clean and your weight under control.
Why Do We Need Fibrous Fruits?
Fibrous fruits aid the digestion process in the body. The fruit skins are rich in dietary fiber, which is a major contributing factor in proper digestion and the excretion process of your body, while simultaneously keeping you safe from problems like gastritis and constipation. However, in some cases, the skin is thick, like in lemons, bananas, melons, and oranges, and cannot be consumed by humans. In those cases, the edible part or the flesh within the skin has plenty of fiber as well.
The fiber content in fruit not only has a brilliant laxative effect but also makes you feel full by adding bulk nutrition to the diet. Fibrous fruits also benefit conditions like heart diseases by reducing hyperlipidemia and hypertension, diabetes mellitus and obesity. Owing to this fibrous composition, fruits also have anti-carcionigenic properties, and are known to prevent colon cancer and fight bowel irregularity disorders.
Fruits Are Storehouses for Nutrients
Almost all fruits have immense nutritional value, but obviously the type and quantity of nutrients vary between types. As the composition changes with each fruit, the health benefits also change with them. The beneficial powers of common fruits are discussed below.
Apples: A good example of a complete healthy fruit is the apple; it helps in digestion, strengthens bones, provides relief from asthma, lowers blood cholesterol, prevents cancer and helps in reducing weight
Pears: Another beneficial fruit is the pear, which is a good source of fiber, vitamin C, B2, E, copper and potassium. Pears are an excellent source of pectin and fiber that effectively lowers cholesterol levels. It is mostly prescribed for infants as it is believed to be a hypoallergenic fruit that is completely safe for young children to ingest.
Grapes: Grapes are also a common fruit that can be easily included in your regular diet. Grapes alleviate indigestion, constipation, fatigue, kidney disorders and eye problems. It is rich in several vitamins and also possesses minerals like calcium, potassium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus and selenium. Read more
Berries: Blueberries, cherries, and blackberries prevent cancer and keep your heart protected. If you include cherries or cherry juice in your diet, you can eliminate the associated pain from arthritis, gout and joint inflammation. Berries have the capability of curing arthritis naturally. Blueberries with high silicon content aid in the functioning of the pancreas and is good for diabetic conditions. Blackberries can naturally control diarrhea and form new blood cells, but it can also have the adverse reaction of promoting constipation. If you mix blackberries with cherries or prune juice, it will not eliminate that constipation. High sodium and potassium content in gooseberries and huckleberries protect the liver and the intestinal tract.
Zucchini: This fruit provides relief from asthma. Owing to its Vitamin C content, it is a powerful antioxidant, and also has anti-inflammatory properties. Zucchini is mostly known and widely used for weight loss. Read more
Mangoes and Papayas: Mangoes and papayas are rich in beta carotene. Papayas act as powerful antioxidants with an abundance of vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin D and vitamin A that all aid in the oxidation of LDL cholesterol. This prevents the formation of dangerous plaque that can result in atherosclerosis, heart attacks, or strokes. You get good amounts of vitamin C from papayas, oranges, guavas and Indian gooseberries.
FruitsTomatoes: You might be surprised to know that tomatoes are actually fruits and not vegetables, although we typically consider it as one of the latter. Tomatoes have a high vitamin content and they are an excellent blood cleanser.
Citrus Fruits: Fruits rich in vitamin-C like oranges, limes, lemons, and grapefruits are excellent for your overall health.  Oranges are consumed widely for healthy skin, teeth, gums, and to keep the lymphatic system healthy. Lemon, the bitter yellow fruit, has been used for for vision issues for thousands of years and it also treats disorders ranging from common colds to epilepsy. Lemon juice helps people lose weight as well. Grapefruit lowers cholesterol and has antioxidant properties. Limes help prevent disorders like scurvy, piles, and gout, as well as respiratory and urinary disorders.
Dry fruits: Dry fruits like figs, dates, apricots and raisins are extremely beneficial for your health. Apart from being excellent laxatives, apricots are a great natural remedy for anemic conditions. Figs include potassium, the essential mineral that helps in controlling blood pressure. Raisins effectively treat anemia, acidosis, fever, and sexual weakness. It helps you to gain weight, promotes eye, teeth and bone health. Dates have abundant fiber that helps to prevent constipation.
Do Fruits Help to Lose Weight?
Once you start including a significant amount of fruit in your normal diet, you will begin to see that your weight is being controlled and your health is improving. However, fruits alone cannot reduce your weight. You also need to exercise regularly.
Many surveys done in America showed effective weight reduction after fruits were included in the family’s diet. A person who habitually eats fruits will be less inclined to have snacks and junk foods between meals that hardly have any nutritional value. Also, fruits are composed of 90-95% water; therefore it has a powerful diuretic effect on your body, thereby flushing out the nitrogenous wastes and unwanted toxins from the body.
One example of this is Lychee, a fruit that is a great laxative with a negligible amount of calories, and no saturated fats or cholesterol. It also helps to cut down excess body weight. Except for a few fruits like coconuts, avocados and olives, fruits are usually fat-free.
Fruits in Acne Treatment
Acne is one of the most irritating skin disorders that can affect people of any age. With a good amount of fruit in your diet, you can naturally curb this problem rather than opting for expensive dermatological creams. Acne mostly occurs from skin infections and dermatological issues, but there are other reasons for such eruptions as well. Apples are the best option for treating acne; eat the skin of the apple, which has a high level of pectin that helps with constipation, which can be a trigger for acne. Bananas also helps to alleviate acne, as it is high in fiber that again relieves constipation. Berries have excellent cleansing properties and keep you protected from skin disorders. If you eat grapes during the day, it helps to cleanse your skin and body. While papayas rejuvenate your skin and repair minor damage that you may not even notice, lemon juice slowly eliminates the signs and scars from acne spots.
Apart from including fruits in your diet, try to watch your other food habits as well. Reduce caffeine consumption since it increases hormones in your body and thus increases acne. Cut down on red meat and dairy intake as well, since they aggravate your hormonal generation, resulting in acne. You should also keep your skin clean by frequently washing with herbal soaps and mild face wash.
Fruits for Healthy Hair
Just as fruits enhance the radiance of your skin, they also contribute greatly to healthy, long hair. Vitamin A brings luster to your hair and also softens its texture. If you have fruit on an empty stomach, it will prevent hair loss and premature greying. Citrus fruits are excellent hair stimulants. The vitamin-C content in citrus fruits also prevents hair loss and keeps your hair shiny and healthy. Fruits like kiwis, strawberries and pineapple are also known for aiding hair growth.
The benefits of fruit for your hair health can also be enjoyed through hair masks. Melon and banana hair masks are recommended by many beauty professionals for healthy hair care at home. You can also make a paste of lemon juice and aloe vera and apply it generously to the hair. Keep the paste on for approximately 45 minutes and then thoroughly wash your hair with mild shampoo. These packs not only improve hair quality, but also eliminate scalp disorders like dandruff and itching. Avocado has an impressive amount of vitamin E, which is widely known to be very good for hair. Avocado hair masks strengthen hair and delay premature greying of your hair. Coconuts are also very good for healthy hair growth. Coconut oil is used extensively throughout the tropical world for haircare.
Fruit Juice vs. Raw Fruits
You may often wonder which form of fruit gives you more nutrition – whole fruits or fruit juices? It is actually difficult to say which one gives more nutrition. Although eating whole fruit is considered to be the best way of attaining the full benefits of fruits, fruit juices are also easy and healthy options. Of course, if the fruit juice is composed of 100% fruit without extra preservatives or additives, then it has the same nutritional value.
Normally fruit juices are available in two forms, 100% fruits juices and as fruit pulp + water + sugar. In both cases, preservatives and additives are added to increase the shelf life of the juice. Very few brands contain no preservatives. In fact, fruit juices are considered to be the best way of incorporating nutrition into your child’s diet, as they usually love anything that tastes good. Buying and drinking fruit juices is much easier than buying whole fruits, cutting and then eating them. In other words, it’s better to drink the juice than to have no fruit in your diet at all.
When you make fruit juice at home, they contain the same fiber content as whole fruits, provided you don’t add any artificial flavors and preservatives. However, if bought from the store, these juices may not have the equal fiber content after the vigorous processing. Moreover, when you consume those types of juices, extra sweeteners and additives are added, which is not the case for whole fruits. Thus, with whole fruits, you can keep your weight controlled. When you make fruit juice at home, try to add the edible skin of the fruits to the juice to gain even more nutritional value.
You have probably come across the term “seasonal fruits”, and as a matter of fact, most fruits are considered seasonal. They grow in a particular season depending on their native geography and climate.  You may be able to get these fruits throughout the year, but they have usually been in frozen state for a varying amount of time. Eating seasonal fruits during the season ensures that they are fresh. Furthermore, most seasonal fruits can also ward off the disorders that come with the season. For example, in India, green mangoes are quite useful for dealing with the heat of summer. Including seasonal fruits in your diet is a delicious and natural way to stay healthy!
Having taken us through the world of fruits we cannot but explore and reap bountifully the abundant health benefits derivable for their consumption in order to stay truly healthy. Cheers.

PEOPLE'S HEALTH AND FITNESS CHALLENGED (2).

The wish of God for us humans is that we be in good health, even as our souls prospereth. From the foregoing you will agree with me that our enjoyment of Good Health and Fitness is non negotiable. God's word is Ye and Amen; no word comes from God and returns to Him void without accomplishing the reasons for which it was sent. But unfortunately human activities act as destabilizing factors on the efficacy of these prophecies which were tailored right from the beginning of time towards the well being of humans. These activities rightly pass as PROBLEMS and the earlier they are identified and solutions proffered the better for us all.

BAD GOVERNANCE: This is the bane of the society and it cuts across many nations of the world. The institution of corruption, tribalism, nepotism, voting and ballot papers manipulations, etc leaves much to be desired. This has effectively put paid to ensuring good governance, people of sound minds who have something good to offer the electorate are not given the opportunity to rule. Majority of those in positions of leadership have nothing good to offer. It is what a person has that he gives. Expecting an improvement in their performance is the same thing as flogging a dead horse. The quality of leadership as instituted at present in most cases has manifested in the birth of so many vices now threatening the continuous existence of humans. Some examples would suffice:
KIDNAPPING. This has become a hydra headed monster threatening the well being of us humans. People now go about their daily activities not quite sure of what becomes of them in the next moment. No parts of the countries walloping in bad leadership is spared of this affliction and this has negatively affected the people's health. Blood pressures are shooting to high heavens, resulting in strokes and sudden deaths. People are dying before their actual death as they now live with the fear of the unknown. What with cases of victims dying in the hands of these vicious elements and the demands of outrageous ransoms which they can hardly afford.
ARMED ROBBERY. The devil finds jobs for idle hands. Bad leadership leads to collapse of many good things and ideas, the economy inclusive. With so many employable youths roaming the streets due to joblessness the devil has no problems recruiting easy workforce to do his bidding. The effect of this is the reign of fear, despair, ill health etc.
HUNGER. The people are hungry, not because they are on a fasting and prayers programme but because they have no food to eat. A hungry man will be willing to sell his birth right for a mess of pottage. So long as what they engage in will put some food in their stomach, the effect of such activities on their health is secondary.
TERRORISM. This has manifested in so many different way, adding no value to human health. Dwelling elaborately on its effect on the people's health can only, as my friend would say, 'add insult to injury'

We can go on and on, but first, let us retrace our footsteps, embark on fence mending in order to work towards allowing God's prophecy on our Health and Fitness to be made manifest. A people led by leaders which has the interests of its citizens at heart can hardly rise against the leaders.
Until our next meeting, KEEP WALKING.
